Backup QBs Shine In Scrimmage

The offense gained 273 yards and had four touchdown passes as the Eagles finished their second scrimmage of the session Friday afternoon. Chris Peerboom sat out with an injured knee, which game the pair of redshirt freshman a chance to show their stuff. Matt Nichols would throw 3 touchdows but would also throw 3 interceptions, and Johs Powell finished with 129 yards and 1 TD.

"I thought they did well in a controlled situation," said Wulff. "They made pretty good decisions but sometimes the ball was not quite as accurate as it could be. That's to be expected with their youth. With more repetitions they'll both become more accurate, but they're operating the offense well." - Coach Wulff.
