Offense Sputters In Final Scrimmage

In 25 plays, the Eagle offense could only gain 73 yards for a nice 2.9 yards per play.

Coach Wulff: "We intentionally didn't run the ball a lot today," explained Wulff. "We tried to throw it a lot and give some of our guys the chance to throw some passes. The defense was able to play some more cover-two defense and work on some more things against the pass. Our play selection wasn't really as much game-simulated as we would normally run."

Iowa State RB To Transfer To UM

Yes I know I've been slacking on the news. And no it isn't because I have too much to do. I am quite simply lazy sometimes and didn't feel like reading through the mass of emails I get on a daily basis. But the hiatus is over folks!

From an athletic standpoint, this sounds like a great addition for the Griz. Greg Coleman didn't start last year (I don't believe - it is harder to find information on him than one would think), but he did rush 113 times for 410 yards and 2 TDs on a pretty good Iowa State squad. He will bring a lot of experience and even more talent to the Griz backfield.

Of course the big story surrounding this is Coleman's past. I'm not going to delve into that whole argument, but I will post what the hubbub is all about:

"Coleman and Williams [teammate] were arrested after a skirmish at Club Element in Ames. In 2003, in a separate case, he was found guilty of interference with official acts causing bodily injury, and for assaulting a police officer in Iowa City."

Coleman had been reinstated to the team before he requested a transfer.

Two Weber Brothers Tops for Utah

Weber State Football football fans should be happy this morning. Two lineman were picked in the NFL draft over the weekend. Paul McQuinstan was drafted by Oakland at 69, and Pat McQuinstan was drafted by Dallas at 211. This is funny, because these two lineman went higher than any other player from a Utah college. So, if you are a Weber fan, take today and savor it, because today you are the top dog in a state where you usually get, at best, no attention.

Besides the state factor, Paul McQuinstan was also the highest player taken out of the Big Sky Conference. I don't know if this says a lot about the direction Weber is moving in, or that we just got lucky, but Wildcat fans should be proud for a day or two. Now if they can just turn good players into success on the field...
